District 6 is a district of opportunity and growth, and its infrastructure should reflect the strength and ambition of its people. However, according to the 2023 Dallas Community Survey, significant concerns remain about the city's infrastructure. A large percentage of Dallas residents rated the city's performance as poor in key areas: 44% for street cleaning, 43% for street striping, 48% for neighborhood street repairs, 44% for major street repairs, 46% for sidewalk maintenance, and 54% for alley maintenance.
It’s no surprise that in 2023, Dallas was ranked the 7th dirtiest city in the nation. Infrastructure and litter were also ranked among the top 6 biggest problems by residents in the 2023 Dallas Community Survey, following concerns about public safety. We must take decisive action to address these issues and enhance the quality of life for our residents.
By embracing common-sense solutions, encouraging private sector involvement, and upholding responsible governance, I will work tirelessly to address these issues and improve the quality of life for District 6 residents. My focus will be on fixing bad roads and potholes, repairing sidewalks, maintaining clean streets, and revitalizing old buildings—an approach that not only enhances the area but also saves money.
Coupled with strong public safety measures and fiscal responsibility, improved infrastructure will attract businesses, bring up the area, and drive economic growth. Together, these efforts will ensure that District 6 remains a thriving community that works for its residents and businesses. Let’s build a safer, more beautiful District 6—together.
Investing in Better Roads, Sidewalks, Alleys
Prioritize repairs to neighborhood and major roads, keeping them free of potholes, while implementing necessary upgrades and expansions to reduce traffic congestion.
Repair and maintain city sidewalks to improve safety and accessibility for all residents.
Maintain regular alley maintenance in District 6 to keep them safe and accessible, including pothole repairs, resurfacing, debris removal, drainage maintenance, and proper lighting. This will enhance safety and quality of life for residents and businesses.
Cleaner Streets
Enhance street cleaning efforts keeping public spaces free of litter. Give waste management the resources they need to address this issue.
Revitalize Old Buildings
Revitalize aging buildings and underdeveloped areas by encouraging private investment while reducing bureaucratic hurdles for redevelopment. This focus on preservation will enhance property values, attract businesses, and ultimately save the city—and taxpayers—money.
Public-Private Partnerships
We believe that government should collaborate with the private sector to build a stronger, more resilient city. Through strategic partnerships, we can accelerate the development and improvement of essential infrastructure—such as roads, public spaces, and sanitation. These partnerships enable innovation, reduce costs, and keeps Dallas thriving.
Economic Growth
Improving infrastructure—such as repairing roads, sidewalks, cleaning streets, and revitalizing historic buildings—will attract businesses, create jobs, and increase property values. By maintaining fiscal responsibility and prioritizing public safety, we can drive sustainable economic growth and make District 6 a prime destination for investment and opportunity.
